Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Corn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes has chosen midnight rider as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jimmy Corn has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jimmy Corn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Corn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hughes but Hughes pushes him off and we're back to square one. Corn throws a half hearted mid kick. Corn misses with a takedown attempt - Hughes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Corn looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Corn won't allow Hughes to get back to his feet. Hughes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Corn defends well. Hughes working a defensive guard here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Corn's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Hughes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Corn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Corn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Corn throws a strike but Hughes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Hughes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hughes wants to control from the top but Corn keeps moving. Corn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hughes's guard. Corn throws and elbow that misses. Hughes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Corn's guard. Nice move by Hughes! Corn is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes trying to control but Corn is working from the bottom. Hughes is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Corn has Hughes pulled in close to control his posture. Hughes wants to control from the top but Corn keeps moving. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Corn gets a takedown into half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Corn stalling away here and it's allowed Hughes to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Corn postures up.
Corn postures up in Hughes's guard and throws a big left but Hughes blocks it. Corn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hughes on the ground. Hughes can't keep his opponent in guard - Corn advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Hughes trying to control here.
Corn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hughes keeps working. Hughes pushes Corn off and gets back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Corn misses with a few strikes there.
Hughes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Corn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Corn. Hughes tries for a takedown but Corn manages to get underhooks.
Corn lands a body punch. Corn goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hughes prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Corn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hughes is working for takedown but Corn is calmly controlling the position for now. Corn turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Corn manages to end up in side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hughes is looking for a sweep. Hughes is pushing Corn's head away, looking to escape. Corn manages to hold on to the position though. Corn with the ground and pound but Hughes regains half guard under the barage of strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jimmy Corn dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Hughes with a lazy takedown attempt and Corn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Corn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Corn wants to control from the top but Hughes keeps moving. Hughes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Corn. Hughes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Corn. Corn scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Corn throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hughes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Corn is controlling him. Corn has gone for a leg lock! Hughes slips out almost immediately though and dives into Corn's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes trying to control but Corn is working from the bottom. Hughes tries to free his leg and advance position but Corn is retaining full guard. Hughes wants to control from the top but Corn keeps moving. Hughes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Matt Hughes. Hughes checks a leg kick. Hughes takes a swing at Corn's ribcage but misses. Corn bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Hughes throws Corn to one side and escapes! Corn has his takedown stuffed and Hughes counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Corn! Corn working to try and regain half guard.
Hughes punishing his opponent with strikes. Corn tries to get back to half guard but can't. Corn in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hughes cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
It looks like Jimmy Corn has been cut.
