PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wesley Sneijder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Botwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sneijder comes to the cage accompanied by Pregador Luo - Bate Pesadão. Kenny Botwin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wesley Sneijder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenny Botwin!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Sneijder misses.
Sneijder throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sneijder throws a right and a left that Botwin avoids nicely.

Botwin has managed to clinch.
Sneijder wants to get back to striking at distance but Botwin won't allow it.

Botwin jumps guard and drags Sneijder to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Botwin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Botwin has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sneijder has passed into side control.
Botwin wants to control but Sneijder postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Botwin tries to bench press Sneijder off him but Sneijder keeps the position.
Botwin wants to get back to his feet.
Botwin tries to buck Sneijder off but Sneijder is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Botwin misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Botwin is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Botwin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Botwin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sneijder wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Sneijder decides to stand back up.
Sneijder stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sneijder wants it to stay on the feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Botwin dodges the punch combination from Sneijder.
Botwin blocks a head kick by Sneijder.

Botwin has managed to clinch.
Botwin using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sneijder has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Botwin tries a knee to the head but Sneijder blocks it.
Sneijder blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Wesley Sneijder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenny Botwin.

Botwin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sneijder stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sneijder wants it to stay on the feet.
Botwin gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Sneijder.
Botwin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sneijder swats him away and circles back towards the center.
No luck for Botwin with that takedown attempt.

Botwin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Botwin tries to pull guard but Sneijder won't allow it.
Sneijder is trying to break free.
Botwin tries a knee to the head but Sneijder blocks it.

Botwin manages to break the clinch.
Botwin tries to close the distance and clinch but Sneijder swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sneijder throws a low kick but Botwin avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A punch lands to the side of Botwin 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Botwin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sneijder shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Botwin eats them both and turns towards Sneijder to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Kenny Botwin has been cut.
Sneijder lands a lovely overhand right.


Botwin is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Botwin checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Botwin is still on wobbly legs! Can Sneijder finish him?
Botwin gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Botwin tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Sneijder is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Botwin buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Botwin!! Botwin is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Sneijder throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wesley Sneijder!
