Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kirill Stein! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brady Baird! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stein is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Baird's half guard. Baird works his way to full guard. Good work. Baird wants to sweep here but Stein controlling him for the moment. Stein has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Baird is proving hard to escape from. Baird is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Stein wants to stand and escape but instead Baird has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baird gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Baird fails with the takedown and Stein counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Baird manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Baird punching from mount but Stein doing a good job of avoiding damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stein tries to reverse the position but Baird maintains control. Baird looking to ground and pound but Stein is blocking nicely. Baird cracks Stein with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Baird throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Baird working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Stein might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Stein is looking to improve his position but Baird isn't that keen on the idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baird working for a guillotine from mount but Stein is in no mood to give up. Stein wants to hold on but Baird pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stein is desperately trying to improve his position but Baird has a good base and remains in mount. Baird looking to finish with strikes here!
Stein controls the position. Baird has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Stein wants to control but Baird is having none of it. Baird in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Baird lands a big elbow. Baird blocks Stein's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baird putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Stein taking shots to the head.
Stein is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Baird trying to control but he's not successful this time. Oh Stein is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Whack. That's a big, big shot from Baird! Stein is out cold! This one is all over!
