Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ray Sanders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Junior Williams!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams connects with a leg kick. Sanders looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Sanders shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Sanders is stalling here. Williams is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sanders seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Williams has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Sanders is looking for a sweep.

Williams has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Horrible takedown by Sanders or perhaps it was just good defense by Williams which made him look bad.

Williams is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Williams is in a horrible position here. Sanders smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanders throws some wild stikes that Williams manages to avoid easily.
Williams is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Williams tries to lock up and control but Sanders gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams wants to hold on but Sanders pushes him away.
Sanders cracks Williams with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Sanders is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Williams can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The referee warns Williams that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


No luck for Sanders with that takedown attempt.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch but Sanders swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Williams.
Williams with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Williams scores with a jab. Sanders acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Williams wants to clinch up but Sanders keeps it at a distance.

Nice uppercut lands for Sanders. That snapped Williams's head back.
Williams lands a body shot.

Sanders shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Williams manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Williams is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Williams lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sanders!

Sanders tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Williams tries to control but Sanders wriggling away.
Williams looking to control and managing it successfully.
Sanders wants to hold on but Williams pushes him away.
Williams tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Williams is looking to stand but Williams has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Sanders tries to reverse the position but Williams maintains control.
Williams trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ray Sanders overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Williams might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sanders kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Sanders really wants to buck Williams off and get back to his feet.
Williams trying to control but Sanders is having none of it.

Sanders is wriggling around trying to escape.

Williams stands up from mount. Strange move.
Williams stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Williams wants it to stay on the feet.
Williams lands with a cross.
Williams tests Sanders's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Sanders gets the takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Williams avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Sanders.
The strikes coming from Sanders are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Williams is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Sanders takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Williams is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sanders's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sanders's back!
Williams is looking to control Sanders but Sanders is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Williams is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Sanders tries to score a power double leg takedown but Williams sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sanders somewhat.
Williams takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Sanders drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Williams sneaks back into half guard.
Williams manages to get to full guard.
Williams is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Williams preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Sanders throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Sanders postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.
Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Williams tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sanders controls his leg.
Williams takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Williams wants to pass to mount but Sanders is defending the position.
Williams uses his free foot to push down on Sanders's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sanders.
Williams trying to control but Sanders is having none of it.
Williams is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams looking to control but Sanders is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Sanders is working to get back to half guard.
Sanders sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Sanders is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Sanders is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Williams pulls his head out easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Williams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sanders keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Junior Williams wasn't active enough on the ground.
Williams thumps Sanders with a low kick.
Ray Sanders is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sanders closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sanders lands in his opponent's guard.
Sanders throwing strikes from guard but Williams blocks nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ray Sanders.
I think Sanders has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
