Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Foell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tiago Silva! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foell lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Foell misses with a double jab
and Silva counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Foell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Foell wants it to stay on the feet. A combination from Foell does no damage. Foell lands a jab to Silva's midsection. Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Foell manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Foell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Silva moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Foell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Foell wants it to stay on the feet. Nick Foell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tiago Silva. A combination from Foell does no damage. Silva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Foell's guard. Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Foell is retaining full guard. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Foell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Foell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Foell tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Foell is retaining full guard. Foell can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Foell is trying to stand.
Silva looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Foell looks like he's trying to stand up.
Silva wants to pass to mount but Foell is defending the position. Foell tries to kick Silva off but Silva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Silva is looking to advance position but Foell won't allow it. Silva uses his free foot to push down on Foell's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Foell. Silva has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Foell is forced to tap!
