PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Kenyon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jared Wepprecht (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenyon comes to the cage accompanied by The Illinois Enema Bandit. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jared Wepprecht!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wepprecht fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kenyon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wepprecht pinned against the cage. Wepprecht gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wepprecht misses with a straight right.
Kenyon shoots in and drives through. Wepprecht sprawls well.

Kenyon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wepprecht's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Kenyon counters with a three punch combo that has Wepprecht backing up. Wepprecht nods at Kenyon to acknowledge the strikes.

The crowd cheers as Wepprecht lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kenyon doesn't seem phased though.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Kenyon will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Wepprecht tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kenyon swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kenyon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wepprecht can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wepprecht slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

You can see the frustration on Wepprecht's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kenyon has hold of Wepprecht's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Wepprecht tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kenyon cranks the arm and Wepprecht screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Wepprecht, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
