PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kai Allard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lothario De Luca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kai Allard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lothario De Luca!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Allard as he connects with a hook.
De Luca fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Allard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Allard comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
De Luca keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Allard.
Allard ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

De Luca closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Allard to the mat! Allard manages to get full guard.
De Luca prevents Allard from getting back to his feet.
Allard looking for a sweep. Not yet Allard, not yet.
Allard manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Allard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Allard can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as De Luca is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
De Luca regains half guard.
De Luca is refusing to be controlled, as Allard sits in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Allard in particular looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
De Luca desperately trying to maintain half guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Kai Allard wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Allard defends well against a solid takedown attempt from De Luca.
De Luca keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Allard.
Allard changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
De Luca has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Allard swings for the body but De Luca moves out of range.

De Luca looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
De Luca looks gassed!
Allard tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Allard is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst De Luca is controlling him.

Allard pushes De Luca off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Allard with a nice cross.
Allard swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Allard digs a good hook to De Luca's body.
De Luca is trying hard to land a takedown here. Allard sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kai Allard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lothario De Luca.
De Luca uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Allard.
Allard digs a good body shot into De Luca's ribs.
Allard bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps De Luca's head backwards.
Allard is looking to wear down De Luca with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Allard lands with a hook. De Luca tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Allard keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Allard scores with a hook to the body. De Luca takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Allard scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Allard digs a good body shot into De Luca's ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kai Allard dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Allard bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Allard is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Allard lands with a hook. De Luca tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Allard scores with a nice right hand.
De Luca gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Allard takes a swing at De Luca's ribcage but misses.
Allard lands a right hook to the body.
De Luca on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Allard lands a lovely overhand right.
This has been an exciting period of action!
De Luca on the wrong end of a nice jab.


De Luca is rocked!
De Luca walks straight into a right hand from Allard - that's dropped him! Allard jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save De Luca from any more punishment! De Luca complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kai Allard!
