Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rob Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo McCloughan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Rob Roy has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rob Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carlo McCloughan!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Roy!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McCloughan.
McCloughan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
A low kick from McCloughan misses
and McCloughan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McCloughan throws a right and a left that both miss.
McCloughan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Roy lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as McCloughan backs up against the ropes.
Roy goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Roy feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits McCloughans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Roy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McCloughan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Roy moves away.

Roy clobbers McCloughan with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Carlo McCloughan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roy lands with a good body shot.

and Roy counters with a three punch combo that has McCloughan backing up. McCloughan nods at Roy to acknowledge the strikes.
Roy scores with a one two! McCloughan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
McCloughan dives in and grabs Roy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Roy pushes down on McCloughan's head and hops out.

McCloughan throws a leg kick but Roy sees it coming and moves out of range.

McCloughan shoots for a takedown but Roy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Roy throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McCloughan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Roy is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
The fighters circle momentarily. Roy darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Roy feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits McCloughans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

McCloughan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Roy avoids it really well and circles away.
Roy uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McCloughan has time to react.

McCloughan shoots in but Roy avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Roy scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McCloughan is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

McCloughan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Roy looks to land a combination. McCloughan sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Roy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McCloughan.

and Roy counters with a one-two to the body.
McCloughan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Roy defends it nicely.

and Roy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The crowd cheers as Roy lands an impressive looking overhand right. McCloughan doesn't seem phased though.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McCloughan.

McCloughan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Roy fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McCloughan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Roy lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

McCloughan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Roy manages to avoid it.
McCloughan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

McCloughan closes the distance and clinches up with Roy, looking for a takedown. McCloughan pushes Roy against the ropes but Roy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Roy lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Roy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. McCloughan doesn't seem bothered though.
Roy lands with a straight right. McCloughan didn't see that one coming.
McCloughan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Roy but Roy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
McCloughan is breathing heavily.
Roy cracks McCloughan with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

McCloughan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Roy pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces McCloughan back to the ropes. Roy follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but McCloughan might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Roy has got the better of the exchanges.

McCloughan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

McCloughan has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Roy's face.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McCloughan cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Roy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Roy squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
McCloughan lands a heavy elbow.

McCloughan lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

McCloughan postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Roy looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Carlo McCloughan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Roy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
