PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jabba Hutt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob has chosen AC/DC - TNT as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jabba Hutt has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jabba Hutt!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Big Bob!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hutt misses with a body shot.
Bob feints a jab promting Hutt to slip. Bob then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hutt slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Jabba Hutt has been cut.

and Hutt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bob won't be happy with that.
Bob parries the strikes from Hutt easily there. Hutt is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bob to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hutt throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Hutt scoring with punches from side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hutt tries to score with some ground and pound. Bob controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Hutt is looking to take a break and control but Bob is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bob keeps Hutt under control for a moment.

Hutt thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bob is looking to regain half guard here but Hutt keeps moving and retains side control.
Hutt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bob keeps working.
Bob is looking to reverse the position.
Hutt misses with the ground and pound.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hutt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bob has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bob is looking for a sweep.
Bob seems a little lost for a moment, as Hutt dominates the positioning.

Bob is not content to let Hutt control the position.
Hutt lands an elbow.
Hutt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bob is looking to regain half guard here but Hutt keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Bob's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hutt is trying to get an arm triangle but Bob is defending well.

Hutt throwing strikes but Bob manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hutt sneaks back into half guard.
Bob content to control rather than advance.
Hutt is trying to control but can't.
Hutt works his way to full guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jabba Hutt dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jabba Hutt's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bob takes a swing at Hutt's ribcage but misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Bob.
Bob leaves Hutt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hutt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jabba Hutt. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Hutt counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bob's guard now.
Hutt pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bob is keeping the position for now.
Bob has control of Hutt's left arm, preventing Hutt from doing any damage.
Hutt wants to control from the top but Bob keeps moving.
Hutt is really struggling to control Bob but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Bob tries to land a sweep but no joy.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bob throws an overhand right that lands on Hutt's shoulder, as Hutt tries to avoid the shot.
Bob wants to clinch up but Hutt keeps it at a distance.

Hutt looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hutt trying to control from half guard but Bob is working away.

Hutt is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bob has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bob tries to kick Hutt off but Hutt keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Hutt thows a huge punch but Bob dodges it nicely.
Hutt is looking to pass Bob's guard but actually Bob recovers to full guard.

Hutt trying to control but Bob is working from the bottom.
Hutt is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bob is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bob is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hutt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bob is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hutt scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jabba Hutt will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bob throws a left and a right that both miss

and Hutt decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bob's guard.
Bob keeping moving, preventing Hutt from controlling successfully.
Bob is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bob stands up out of the half guard.
Bob wants to clinch up but Hutt keeps it at a distance.
Bob digs a good hook to Hutt's body.
Hutt throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bob lands the left hand.

Hutt moves out of range as Bob strikes.
Bob takes a swing at Hutt's ribcage but misses.
Hutt takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hutt misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Bob counters with a leg kick.
Bob takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Bob throws a good cross that connects.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bob misses with a straight left.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bob rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Hutt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bob won't be happy with that.
Bob can't do much from the bottom here.
Bob tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hutt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The strikes coming from Hutt are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Hutt fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Bob is trying to control Hutt's posture but Hutt avoids it.
Bob tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Hutt presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Poor strikes thrown by Hutt there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
