Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Davidson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stu Linelli! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Linelli looks to land a combination. Davidson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Davidson checks the leg kick nicely there.
Davidson shoots in but no luck this time. Davidson gets a takedown into half guard. Davidson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Linelli trying to hold on to Davidson's head to control him but Davidson postures up.
Davidson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Davidson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Linelli is just riding it out for now. Davidson eventually gives up the hold. Linelli is trying to get back to full guard. Linelli is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Davidson passes to full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Davidson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Davidson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Linelli can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Davidson thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Davidson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Linelli looks a forlorn figure.
Davidson lands a big elbow.
Linelli is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Davidson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Linelli is still in real trouble! Can Davidson finish him? Linelli really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davidson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Davidson landing strikes, looking to finish! Davidson wants to control the pace but Linelli is squirming around nicely. Davidson looking to finish Linelli with some ground and pound. This is bad for Linelli! Davidson lands a nice shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davidson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Davidson is breathing heavily. A nice elbow there by Davidson. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Davidson landing strikes from the mount and Linelli is in trouble! Davidson prevents Linelli from getting the reversal. Linelli has left one of his arms exposed and Davidson doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Linelli screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
