Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nobu Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nobu Murphy has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Marshall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nobu Murphy! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murphy doesn't succeed with the takedown and Marshall counters with a nice uppercut. Marshall tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Murphy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Marshall wants to clinch and Murphy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marshall's guard. Murphy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Murphy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Murphy wants to pass the guard but Marshall is keeping the position. Marshall is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Murphy is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Murphy has gone for a leg lock! Marshall slips out almost immediately though and dives into Murphy's guard. Marshall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Murphy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marshall has managed to get both his arms back between Murphy's legs - danger averted.

Marshall tries to stand but Murphy is controlling from the bottom. Marshall knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Murphy on the ground. Marshall has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Murphy has his foot on Marshall's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Marshall works his way back into a safe position though. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Murphy looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Murphy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marshall defends well. Murphy looks gassed! Marshall trying to stand up but can't free himself from Murphy's guard. Murphy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Marshall is looking to stand up but Murphy won't let him. Murphy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marshall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marshall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Murphy looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Marshall decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marshall wants to clinch and Murphy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Marshall wants to stand but Murphy is controlling the position. Murphy is looking to work some ground and pound but Marshall has wrist control. Marshall might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Murphy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Marshall works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Marshall looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Marshall is trying to control the position but Murphy postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Murphy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Murphy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Murphy drops back looking for a leg! Marshall is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Marshall manages to kick Murphy off! Murphy jumps back into Marshall's guard. Murphy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Marshall manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Murphy has Marshall in his guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Murphy has his foot on Marshall's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Marshall works his way back into a safe position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nobu Murphy dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Marshall fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marshall tries to clinch but fails miserably and Murphy counters with a takedown into side control. Marshall bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! and Murphy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Marshall won't be happy with that. Nobu Murphy has got the better of the ground game so far. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Murphy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Marshall is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Marshall is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

You can see the frustration on Marshall's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Murphy is trying to get an arm triangle but Marshall is defending well. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Murphy drops an elbow to the side of Marshall's head. Marshall tries to kick Murphy off but Murphy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Marshall keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Marshall is trying to stand up here but Murphy is controlling him well. Murphy has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Marshall defend it? Murphy steps over the head and cranks it - Marshall is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Murphy!
