Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leon Blanc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Karl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leon Blanc! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kris Karl! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blanc tries for a takedown but Karl sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Karl goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Karl stuffs the takedown attempt from Blanc. Blanc gets slowly back to his feet. Blanc tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Karl paws at him with a jab and circles away. Karl changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blanc looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Blanc is looking for a sweep. Blanc is working hard here to advance position. Karl controls the position. Blanc is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Karl is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Blanc's shoulder. That is not cool. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Blanc tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karl taking a breather here. Blanc is looking to regain half guard here but Karl keeps moving and retains side control. Karl moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Blanc wants to control but Karl postures up. Blanc tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Karl wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Blanc sneaks back into half guard. Karl is thwarting Blanc's attempts to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Karl looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Blanc wants to improve his position but Karl is controlling well.

Karl throwing shots but Blanc is blocking nicely. Blanc wants to get back to full guard. Blanc is breathing heavily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Blanc has his takedown stuffed and Karl counters with a nice double leg into side control. Blanc won't be happy with that. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon Blanc. That's going to take a lot out of him. Karl taking a breather here. Blanc manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Karl scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Karl with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Blanc has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Karl is working away from the top position though. Karl wants to control but Blanc is keeping him busy. Blanc trying to control but Karl postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Karl is trying to control the action in half guard but Blanc is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Blanc wants to control but Karl passes into side.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Blanc with a lazy takedown attempt and Karl counters with a takedown into side control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Blanc looks to move to half guard but instead Karl has passed into mount! Damn! Karl controlling from the full mount. Blanc bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kris Karl dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Blanc with a lazy takedown attempt and Karl counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Blanc's guard now. Blanc is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Karl won't allow Blanc to get back to his feet. Blanc might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Blanc is trying to control the position but Karl postures up. Blanc controlling the position. Blanc lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Karl! Karl manages to regain half guard. Good work. Karl is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blanc seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Karl does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Karl is trying to get back to full guard. Blanc is trying to control the action in half guard but Karl is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Blanc wants to stand up but Karl is controlling the position.
Karl regains full guard. Nicely done. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Karl can do anything to dispel that myth. Blanc controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Blanc trying to control the position from guard on top but Karl is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Leon Blanc just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. No luck for Karl with that takedown attempt. Blanc misses with a takedown and Karl counters with a shoot takedown. Blanc fights it but they end up in guard. Karl stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blanc swivels though and keeps the full guard. Blanc keeping moving, preventing Karl from controlling successfully. Karl must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Blanc is really struggling to control Karl but he's trying to hold on to the position. Blanc tries to land a sweep but no joy.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Blanc looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Blanc misses with a takedown and Karl counters with a shoot takedown. Blanc fights it but they end up in guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon Blanc. Blanc is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kris Karl has got the better of the ground game so far. Blanc has control of Karl's left arm, preventing Karl from doing any damage. Karl preventing the sweep. Blanc controls Karl momentarily but Karl frees himself. Karl trying to control but Blanc is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kris Karl showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Karl moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Blanc wants to clinch. Blanc gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Karl decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Blanc's guard. Karl postures up.

Karl blocking the ground and pound. Blanc takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Blanc blocks Karl's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Blanc is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Karl tries to lock up and control but Blanc gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Blanc takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
I really don't envy Karl right now.
Karl has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Blanc trying to control. Blanc has the hooks in. Karl is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Blanc wants to control but Karl manages to buck him off and is now in Blanc's guard! Nice work there by Karl!

Blanc wants to control the pace but Karl is squirming around nicely. Leon Blanc has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Blanc avoids the attempt from Karl to control.
And that's the end of the fight! Kris Karl comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Karl has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
