The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rudy throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Rudy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Aszad sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Rudy moves into the clinch.

Rudy lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Rudy moves in looking to clinch but Aszad pushes him off.
Aszad swats away the attempt to clinch by Rudy.
Rudy wants to clinch.
A slapping body kick lands there for Rudy.
Rudy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Aszad manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rudy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rudy plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Aszad fails with a takedown attempt.
Rudy throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Aszad.
Rudy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Aszad shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rudy sprawls well. Rudy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Aszad gets slowly back to his feet.
Phill Rudy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mz Aszad.
Aszad attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Rudy has taken the fight to the clinch.

Aszad tries to throw a body punch but Rudy avoids it by throwing Aszad back against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Aszad is trying to drag Rudy to the mat but Rudy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Aszad can't get the takedown.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rudy is pushing Aszad up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

and Aszad counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rudy won't be happy with that.

Aszad has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Rudy is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Aszad yanks on the arm and Rudy is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Aszad.
