The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franco throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Preuss tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Franco manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Emilianenco Preuss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Franco looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Preuss pushes Franco off looking to stand but Franco dives back in and keeps control.
Preuss is looking to improve his position.
Franco wants to advance to full mount but Preuss doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Franco has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Emilianenco Preuss.
Preuss looks to land a combination but Franco avoids it well.

Franco lands an elbow inside.

It looks like Emilianenco Preuss has been cut.
Preuss lands with a left to the head.
Preuss is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Franco tries to stall but Preuss uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Preuss tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Preuss wants to break free but Franco has control.
Franco blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Franco breaks the clinch.
Preuss tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Franco counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Preuss looks gassed!

Preuss lands with a heel strike from the guard.
Franco thows a big elbow that misses.
Franco not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Preuss wants to sweep here but Franco controlling him for the moment.
Preuss avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Franco wants to control from the top but Preuss keeps moving.

Preuss doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Franco pushes down on Preuss's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Preuss slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Preuss throws a right and a left that Franco avoids nicely.

Preuss gets tackled into the cage by Franco. Franco maintains the clinch.
Preuss is trying to break the clinch but Franco has him pressed against the cage.
Preuss blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Preuss misses with a hook from the clinch.

Franco's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Franco pushes Preuss up against the cage in a clinch.

Franco escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Franco has managed to clinch.

Franco has Preuss pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Franco pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Preuss tumbling to the mat - Franco dives into Preuss's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Franco postures up in Preuss's guard and throws a big left but Preuss blocks it.
Franco is looking to stand up but Preuss won't let him.

Franco got a little sloppy there for a moment and Preuss has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Franco has managed to get both his arms back between Preuss's legs - danger averted.
Franco prevents Preuss from getting back to his feet.

Franco wants to control from the top but Preuss keeps moving.
Preuss is trying to control the position but Franco postures up.

Hermes Franco has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Preuss looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Franco is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Preuss's half guard.

Preuss kicks Franco off and gets back to his feet.
Preuss scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Hermes Franco has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Preuss cracks Franco with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Preuss has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Franco to stand back up!

Franco is rocked!
Preuss cracks Franco with a left hook right on the temple and Franco goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Preuss lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Franco is OK!
