The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams has his takedown stuffed
and Michaels counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Williams misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Michaels to counter with a crisp jab.

and Michaels counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Michaels closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Michaels stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Michaels drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Michaels jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Michaels got a little sloppy there for a moment and Williams has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Michaels has managed to get both his arms back between Williams's legs - danger averted.

Michaels thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Williams will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Williams is looking for a triangle but Michaels pushes his legs off easily.

Williams can't keep his opponent in guard - Michaels advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Michaels maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Williams could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Michaels has cracked it and Williams is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Michaels!
