Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matteus Trill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Harris! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Harris. Trill connects with the punch.
It looks like Paul Harris has been cut. Trill pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Trill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Trill lands a nice looking body shot.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Trill enables Harris to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Trill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Trill looking for a sweep. Not yet Trill, not yet. Harris is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Harris passes easily into side control. Nice work. Harris working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Harris connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Trill some visible discomfort.
Harris is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Trill is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Trill knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Harris on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trill tries to bench press Harris off him but Harris keeps the position. Trill is working hard here to advance position. The referee asks Harris politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Harris prefers to stall for the moment though. Trill wants to control but Harris postures up. Harris works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Trill is trying to get back to half guard. Trill is trying to control Harris's posture but Harris avoids it. Trill tries to buck Harris off but Harris is having none of it. Harris is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Trill is trying to escape and Harris transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Trill is forced to tap! Nice work there by Harris! Very nice indeed!
