PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Hazlehurst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephan Anton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hazlehurst comes into the arena with Queen - The Show Must Go On blaring out of the sound system. Dan Hazlehurst has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephan Anton!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hazlehurst gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Anton to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Anton uses his free foot to push down on Hazlehurst's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hazlehurst.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Anton looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Anton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Anton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

It looks like Dan Hazlehurst has been cut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Anton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hazlehurst was covering up waiting for the punch and Anton finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hazlehurst wants to control the position but Anton says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Anton landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Dan Hazlehurst wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Hazlehurst closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Anton to the mat! Anton manages to get full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Anton holds on and takes a little breather.
Hazlehurst takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Anton is on top in guard.
Anton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hazlehurst swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Anton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

I've got Anton winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
