Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bovver Meerten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ritchie Blacklands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blacklands comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Wicker Man, by Iron Maiden kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blacklands throws a combination that misses
letting Meerten counter with a right hand.

Meerten has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Blacklands drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Blacklands jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
