Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mauricio Rua has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Daniels! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daniels closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rua to the mat! Rua manages to get full guard. Rua keeping moving, preventing Daniels from controlling successfully. Rua keeping full guard, as Daniels tries to pass. Daniels slips nicely into half guard. Daniels trying to pass the guard but Rua defending well. Daniels seems to be looking for submissions.
Rua is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daniels is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rua doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Daniels. Daniels trying to control the action but Rua is working from the bottom. Daniels is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Daniels landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Daniels is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rua wants to improve his position but Daniels is controlling well.
Rua is pressing down on Daniels's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daniels trying to control but Rua is working from the bottom. Daniels pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rua is keeping the position for now. Daniels wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving. Rua is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Daniels passes Rua's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rua is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Daniels dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rua closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rua lands in his opponent's guard. Rua has gone for a leg lock! Daniels slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rua's guard. Daniels looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Rua wants to control the position but Daniels says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daniels takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Daniels working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Rua's thigh. Rua counters though and makes it back to full guard. Rua is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Daniels looking to sit in guard and control but Rua gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Daniels is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daniels won't allow Rua to get back to his feet. Daniels trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Daniels is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rua is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rua has escaped and now he's on top! Rua postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Daniels is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rua, into his guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daniels advances to half guard. Daniels wants to work for an arm triangle but Rua is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Rua wants to get back to full guard. Daniels is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Daniels trying to mount his opponent but Rua defends it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Daniels passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rua! Daniels controlling his opponent. Daniels wants to control the pace but Rua is squirming around nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Daniels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Daniels shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rua defends it nicely. Daniels shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rua defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Daniels. Mauricio Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Daniels. Rua with a lazy takedown attempt and Daniels counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rua won't be happy with that. Rua gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Daniels trying to mount his opponent but Rua defends it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rua is trying to control but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua gets back to full guard.
Rua wants to sweep here but Daniels controlling him for the moment. Rua wants to stand and escape but Daniels is having none of it. Daniels wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position. Rua keeping moving, preventing Daniels from controlling successfully. Rua avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rua controls Daniels momentarily but Daniels frees himself. Daniels stands and throws Rua's legs to the side, diving into side control. Rua is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Daniels trying to control the position but Rua is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daniels tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Rua is trying to get back to half guard. Rua is working hard here to advance position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Daniels controlling the position. You can see the frustration on Rua's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rua sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Rua wants to improve his position but Daniels is controlling well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Daniels uses his free foot to push down on Rua's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rua.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Daniels comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Daniels winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
