The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kittman moves into the clinch. Kittman goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kakinomoto prevents it.
Kittman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kakinomoto gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Kittman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kittman has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kakinomoto is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Kittman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kakinomoto pulls him back up using the underhooks. Kakinomoto tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kakinomoto wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kittman has him pressed against the cage. Kittman gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Kittman drops back looking for a leg! Kakinomoto is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kakinomoto manages to kick Kittman off! Kittman jumps back into Kakinomoto's guard. Kittman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kittman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? That's one minute gone in the round. Kittman tries to free his leg and advance position but Kakinomoto is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kittman passes easily into side control. Nice work. Kakinomoto is looking to reverse the position. Kittman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kakinomoto sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Kittman is trying to get an arm triangle but Kakinomoto is defending well. Kakinomoto is not content to let Kittman control the position. Kakinomoto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kittman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kittman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Kittman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kakinomoto has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kittman is working Kakinomoto over with some ground and pound from side control. Kakinomoto struggling a bit here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kittman in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kakinomoto is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
