Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Slaughter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Martinez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Puya -- Sal Pa' Fuera. Slaughter has chosen The Crown - World Below as his entrance music. 18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesus Martinez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Slaughter! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slaughter blocks a low kick nicely. Slaughter misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Martinez.
A shot to the body from Slaughter misses and Martinez counters with a thumping low kick. Slaughter dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Nice straight punches there by Martinez. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Martinez. Slaughter throws an off balance right hand
and Martinez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Slaughter lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Martinez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Slaughter. Slaughter fails in his attempt to clinch. Martinez throws a head kick that misses. Martinez throws a right hand that misses
and Slaughter counters with a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martinez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Slaughter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Slaughter thumps Martinez with a low kick. Slaughter throws a front kick aimed at Martinez's knee but Martinez avoids it well. Martinez throws a lazy uppercut
and Slaughter counters with a left to the body. Martinez lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Martinez falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Slaughter to counter with a crisp jab. Slaughter misses with a jab to the body
and Martinez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Slaughter misses with a low kick as Martinez jumps back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martinez throws a series of strikes that have Slaughter backpedaling.

Martinez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Martinez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Martinez prevents Slaughter from getting back to his feet. Martinez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slaughter is keeping the position for now. Martinez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Slaughter manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Martinez has Slaughter in his guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Martinez keeping moving, preventing Slaughter from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slaughter wanted to stand there but Martinez had control of the position. Martinez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Slaughter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Martinez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Slaughter manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Martinez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Martinez is fighting to break Slaughter's control of his arms but Slaughter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Slaughter wants to sweep here but Martinez controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Slaughter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Martinez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Martinez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Slaughter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Christian Slaughter will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Martinez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Slaughter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Martinez lands a left hand that snaps the head of Slaughter backwards. Martinez has Slaughter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Slaughter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Slaughter has a couple of punches blocked by Martinez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martinez is working Slaughter over against the cage. Slaughter is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Martinez is keeping busy. Martinez pushes Slaughter back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Martinez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Martinez misses with a low kick. Martinez misses with a series of wild punches.
Martinez throws a head kick that misses and Slaughter counters with a nice body shot. Martinez shoots in and drives through. Slaughter sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesus Martinez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Slaughter jabs Martinez right on the nose. Martinez blinks but takes it well. Martinez tries for a takedown but Slaughter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A head kick by Martinez misses and Slaughter counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martinez is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Christian Slaughter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Martinez swings and misses with a shot to the body and Slaughter counters with a stiff right hand. Slaughter moves forwards but Martinez connects with a nice, crisp jab. Martinez tries to close the distance and clinch but Slaughter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Slaughter just misses with a punch to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A big left from Slaughter misses. A low kick from Slaughter is predictable there and Martinez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Martinez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Slaughter is trying to maintain the position but Martinez is very close to passing his half guard. Slaughter is trying to get back to full guard. Martinez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Slaughter is trying to get back to full guard. Slaughter looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martinez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Martinez is trying to control the action in half guard but Slaughter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Slaughter trying to hold on to Martinez's head to control him but Martinez postures up.
Slaughter tries to get to full guard but Martinez has control of the leg. Martinez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slaughter defends it well. Martinez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Slaughter sees it coming and defends easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martinez tries to clinch up and Slaughter counters with a lovely shot to the body. Martinez checks a leg kick. Martinez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. A solid leg kick lands there for Slaughter.

and Slaughter counters with a leg kick. A left and a right from Martinez both land. Nice combination. Slaughter misses with a left hand and Martinez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Slaughter's guard. Martinez wants to pass the guard but Slaughter is keeping the position. Martinez is fighting to break Slaughter's control of his arms but Slaughter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Slaughter kicks Martinez off and gets to his feet. Slaughter keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Martinez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slaughter cracks Martinez with an open hand slap. Martinez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Martinez fails in his attempt to clinch. Good leg kick by Slaughter there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Martinez throws a leg kick and Slaughter counters with a lovely straight right hand! Martinez throws a head kick that misses. Slaughter's corner calls for a 1-2. Slaughter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Slaughter swings widly with a right hand
and Martinez counters with a three punch combo that has Slaughter backing up. Slaughter nods at Martinez to acknowledge the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martinez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Slaughter is looking to control Martinez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Slaughter avoid being mounted? Slaughter has his hands clasped together around Martinez's back. He's all about the action. Martinez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Slaughter wants to control but Martinez is keeping busy.
Slaughter wants to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Martinez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Slaughter! Martinez lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Martinez cracks Slaughter with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Martinez looking to ground and pound but Slaughter is blocking nicely. Slaughter wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Martinez.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Martinez with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
