Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Magatsu Taito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patton comes into the arena with Faith No More - Surprise You're Dead blaring out of the sound system. Michael Patton has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Patton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Magatsu Taito! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taito avoids the body shot from Patton.
Patton misses the body punch and Taito counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Patton misses with a shot to the body and Taito counters with a lovely straight right hand! Taito fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Patton avoids it really well and circles away. Taito fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Patton has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Taito throws a predictable looking body shot

and Patton counters with a two punch combo. Patton lands a jab to Taito's midsection. A swing and a miss from Patton. Taito wants to clinch up but Patton keeps it at a distance. Patton wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michael Patton dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Taito counters with a single leg into guard. Patton didn't expect that. Taito with a flurry of punches that miss. Taito stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patton swivels though and keeps the full guard. Taito throwing strikes but missing. Taito trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Taito preventing the sweep. Taito pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Patton is keeping the position for now.

Patton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Taito trying to control but Patton is working from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Taito fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Patton manages to avoid it. Patton throws a hook to the side of Taito's head but Taito sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Patton throws a hook but Taito blocks it. Taito swings and misses with a shot to the body and Patton counters with a lovely shot to the body. Taito scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Taito looks up at the clock and then as Patton takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Taito smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Taito works to advance to full mount. Patton defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Taito thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Taito has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Taito tries to control but Patton wriggling away. Taito has control of Patton's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Patton regains control of the situation pretty easily.
A nice elbow there by Taito.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patton keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Taito misses with some ground and pound and Patton recovers position to half guard. Taito is pressing down on Patton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Patton is holding on for now. Patton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Taito on the ground. Taito throwing shots but Patton is blocking nicely. Patton is looking for a sweep. Taito is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Patton trying to control here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Taito is pressing down on Patton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Patton is holding on for now. Taito is looking to take a break and control but Patton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Patton makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Patton. Taito slips nicely into half guard. Taito thows a huge punch but Patton dodges it nicely.
Taito is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Patton sees it coming and defends easily. Taito not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Magatsu Taito showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Taito makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Taito throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Patton's waist but Patton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Taito off to one side. Taito scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Patton takes a swing at Taito's ribcage but misses. Taito scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Taito looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Now he's in guard on top. Taito manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Patton manages to get himself to full guard.
Patton controls Taito momentarily but Taito frees himself. Taito missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Taito trying to control the position from guard on top but Patton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Taito works a leg free and moves into half guard. Patton tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Taito has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Patton blocking the ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Taito landing shots from mount. Taito pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Taito connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Magatsu Taito comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Taito has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
