PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thesis Dewit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parker has chosen To Live is to Die as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thesis Dewit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Parker!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Parker doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Dewit counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Parker gets back to full guard.

Dewit is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Parker is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Parker has escaped and now he's on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dewit utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Parker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Parker advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dewit is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Parker scores with a couple of nice shots.
Dewit on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dewit tries to get out of the position.
Parker with the ground and pound but Dewit uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Parker tries to free his leg and advance position but Dewit is retaining full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Parker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dewit lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Parker!

Dewit goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Parker turns into him and now he's in Dewit's guard.
Parker is looking to work some ground and pound but Dewit has wrist control.

Dewit working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Parker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Parker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Parker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Dewit wants to stand and escape but Parker is having none of it.
Parker lands a couple of elbows.

Dewit looking for a sweep. Not yet Dewit, not yet.
Dewit bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Parker's guard.
Dewit stays in close to Parker's body and controls the position.
Dewit looking to sit in guard and control but Parker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dewit had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Parker defends it easily.

Dewit is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Parker is aware though and is defending well.
Parker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Parker is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Parker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Parker looking to pass the guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dewit preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Dewit is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Dewit throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Dewit is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Parker trying to hold on to Dewit's head to control him but Dewit postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dewit seems to be looking for submissions.
Dewit is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Parker keeping moving, preventing Dewit from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thesis Dewit dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Dewit stuffs the takedown.
Dewit misses with a straight left.
Parker shoots and misses

and Dewit counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Parker's guard now.
Parker working a defensive guard here.

Dewit drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Dewit as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Parker screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Dewit! Nice submission victory there!
