The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar tries to clinch up.
Mayer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lesnar misses with a two punch combination.
Mayer avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mayer misses with a left hand
and Lesnar holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Lesnar tries to pull guard but Mayer holds him up against the cage and eventually Lesnar drops back down to his feet.
Mayer tries to score a body lock takedown but Lesnar shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Lesnar drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mayer pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lesnar has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brock Lesnar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mayer lands a jab to the head.
It looks like Brock Lesnar has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lesnar closes the distance and clinches up with Mayer, looking for a takedown. Lesnar pushes Mayer against the cage but Mayer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lesnar walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Lesnar limp body while Mayer jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jan Mayer!
