The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos falls off balance throwing a combination
and King counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Santos swings widly with a right hand
and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts King as he jumps to the side.
Santos throws a right hand that King ducks under and follows up with a left that King also avoids with ease.
Alvaro Ibanez Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King slaps away a takedown attempt from Santos, before circling back to the center of the mat.

enabling King to counter with a crisp jab.

King fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Santos looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

King tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Santos paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Santos throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Santos is trying desperately to land a takedown but King is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Santos.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

King drives through and clinches with Santos against the cage.
King manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Santos misses with a punch to the body.
Santos is trying to push King away but King has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Santos's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
King blocks a punch to the side of the head.
The referee is keeping an eye on King - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ace King dominated that round.
That's time! King's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Santos scores with a crisp jab that stopped King in his tracks.
King throws a hook but Santos avoids it easily.

and King counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Santos lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down King.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
King pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
