Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by Run this Town. Rafael Primon has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with George Diaz's chin.

0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Primon! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Diaz showed some decent athleticism there. Diaz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. George Diaz wasn't doing enough on the ground. Primon with a poor takedown and Diaz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Primon's guard. Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Primon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Primon will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Diaz won't allow Primon to sweep him here. Primon keeping full guard, as Diaz tries to pass. Diaz advances to half guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Primon trying to control but Diaz postures up.
Diaz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Primon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up because George Diaz just wasn't active enough. Primon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Diaz preventing the sweep. Primon keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Diaz drops back looking for a leg! Primon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Primon manages to kick Diaz off! Diaz jumps back into Primon's guard. Primon keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Primon throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Diaz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Primon throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Primon looks gassed! Diaz's corner is telling him to maintain position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Diaz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Diaz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Primon to the mat! Primon manages to get full guard. Diaz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Diaz content to stall in guard here. Diaz passes into half guard. Diaz controlling the action here.

Primon fights it but they end up in guard. Primon is breathing heavily. Diaz advances to half guard. Diaz wants to work for an arm triangle but Primon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to control. Primon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Diaz passes the guard and advances to mount! Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Primon is looking to escape.

Diaz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Diaz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Primon for as long as he can get away with.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Primon can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Primon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Diaz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Diaz has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Primon defend it? Diaz steps over the head and cranks it - Primon is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Diaz!
