Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Seb Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gavin McIlroy!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams shoots in and gets a takedown into McIlroy's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams tries to stand but McIlroy is controlling from the bottom.
McIlroy scores with a nice shot.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

McIlroy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Williams can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McIlroy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Williams's guard.

McIlroy postures up.
McIlroy wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Williams misses with a takedown attempt - McIlroy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Williams shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McIlroy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
McIlroy throws a half hearted mid kick.
McIlroy blocks a head kick by Williams.

McIlroy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Williams keeps the fight on the outside.
Williams misses with an uppercut.
McIlroy shoots in but no luck this time.

McIlroy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

McIlroy stands up and beckons Williams to his feet.
Williams is breathing heavily.
McIlroy throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seb Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williams wants to get back to his feet but McIlroy drags him back down.
McIlroy lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Williams down.

Williams is letting McIlroy control him for a moment.
McIlroy throwing shots but missing, from side control.

McIlroy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

McIlroy is trying to get an arm triangle but Williams is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
You can see the frustration on Williams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gavin McIlroy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McIlroy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Williams.

McIlroy instigates a clinch.
Williams pushes off an throws an elbow but McIlroy leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Williams is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McIlroy pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Williams jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McIlroy walks away with a smile on his face. Williams gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Williams wants to get back to striking at distance but McIlroy won't allow it.

McIlroy has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Williams is trying to keep an underhook but McIlroy manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Williams is not content to let McIlroy control the position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McIlroy in particular looking to stall.
Williams tries to kick McIlroy off but McIlroy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

McIlroy escapes and gets back to his feet.

McIlroy turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and McIlroy manages to end up in side control.
Williams can't do much from the bottom here.
Williams is working to avoid the ground and pound but McIlroy connects with a decent elbow.
Williams is not content to let McIlroy control the position.
Gavin McIlroy has got the better of the ground game so far.

McIlroy stands up and beckons Williams to his feet.
McIlroy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Williams avoids a punch combination nicely.
McIlroy moves away from the strike by Williams.
A jab from Williams misses.
Williams doesn't succeed with the takedown

and McIlroy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Williams!
McIlroy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
McIlroy lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Williams hang on?

Gavin McIlroy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

McIlroy is trying to control Williams's posture but Williams avoids it.

McIlroy is trying to buck Williams off.
McIlroy is trying to improve his position.

Williams stands up.
Williams throws a body kick that misses.

McIlroy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Williams, pushing him back against the cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McIlroy tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Williams just stands there and leans against the cage.

McIlroy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Williams throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McIlroy.
McIlroy moves out of range of the body kick.
McIlroy throws a sloppy head kick and Williams moves out of range easily.
Williams misses with the combination.

McIlroy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
McIlroy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Williams gets full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams is trying to keep McIlroy in close.
Williams keeping moving, preventing McIlroy from controlling successfully.
Williams wants to sweep here but McIlroy controlling him for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gavin McIlroy hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

McIlroy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Williams's guard.
McIlroy trying to stand up but can't free himself from Williams's guard.
Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gavin McIlroy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McIlroy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

I would just about give that final round to Gavin McIlroy.
Well McIlroy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
