The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hilt swings away with a body shot that misses
and Duddy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Travis Hilt has been cut.
Hilt swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Duddy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Duddy throws a left and a right that both miss

and Hilt counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hilt.
Hilt trying to control the position from guard on top but Duddy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hilt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Duddy pulls Hilt in close to his closed guard and prevents Hilt from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hilt throws a strike but Duddy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hilt is working an open guard so Duddy takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Duddy counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Hilt misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Duddy lands with a shot to the body.
Crunch! Duddy slams his shin into Hilt's torso.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Duddy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hilt takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Duddy scores with a shot to the body.

Oooooh!!! Duddy has knocked Hilt down with a huge combo! Duddy steps away and waves a wobbly Hilt back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Duddy throws a series of punches but Hilt avoids them all with ease.
Hilt avoids a punch combination nicely.
Duddy looks to land a combination but Hilt avoids it well.
Duddy misses with a wild combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Duddy throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Hilt's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Duddy dives in looking to finish as Hilt flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Duddy's strikes! Duddy is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Hilt's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Hilt was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
