Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Earl Bennet! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom Clancey! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bennet misses with a double jab
and Clancey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Earl Bennet has been cut. Clancey stuns Bennet with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Bennet shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Clancey is trying to defend but Bennet finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bennet not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Clancey wants to get back to his feet. Bennet working Clancey over with strikes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bennet sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Clancey defending well though. Bennet thows a huge punch but Clancey dodges it nicely.
Bennet thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Clancey avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bennet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bennet is pressing down on Clancey's thigh, looking to free his foot. Clancey is holding on for now. Bennet throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Bennet missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Bennet with the ground and pound but Clancey uses the opportunity to regain guard. Clancey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bennet. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bennet with a nice head shot there. Bennet missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Bennet cracks Clancey with a solid left hand. Bennet landing with the ground and pound. Bennet trying to control but Clancey is working from the bottom. Bennet with a nice head shot there.
Clancey is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bennet arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Clancey's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Earl Bennet!
