The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

StPierre closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - StPierre lands in his opponent's guard.
Volynkin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Volynkin keeping moving, preventing StPierre from controlling successfully.
StPierre trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Geeorges StPierre.

Volynkin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. StPierre sprawls well initially but Volynkin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Volynkin wants to pass the guard but StPierre is defending well.
StPierre has his hands clasped together around Volynkin's back. He's all about the action.

StPierre shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Volynkin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

StPierre is looking to take a break and control but Volynkin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Geeorges StPierre hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

StPierre throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Volynkin was covering up waiting for the punch and StPierre finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geeorges StPierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

StPierre throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Volynkin's waist but Volynkin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing StPierre off to one side.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Geeorges StPierre hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Volynkin counters with a single leg into guard. StPierre didn't expect that.
StPierre has control of Volynkin's left arm, preventing Volynkin from doing any damage.
StPierre is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
StPierre passes the guard and advances to mount!

Volynkin is bucking up trying to escape but StPierre cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Geeorges StPierre is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
StPierre controlling the position easily from mount.
Let's hope that StPierre has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
StPierre pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Volynkin is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
