The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morris thuds a left hand into Warren's body. Warren shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morris as he jumps to the side. Jab from Warren. Warren throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Morris to counter with a crisp jab. Morris misses with a shot to the body and Warren counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Morris scores with a shot to the body.
Morris throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A bone on bone clash there as Morris blocks the leg kick.
Reggie Warren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Warren throws an overhand right that lands on Morris's shoulder, as Morris tries to avoid the shot. Warren thows a left - swing and a miss! Warren lands with a thumping leg kick.
Morris lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Morris. Warren swings away with a body shot that misses
and Morris counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Warren ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Warren misses the shot to the body. Warren keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Warren fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Morris. Warren misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Warren darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Morris misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Warren connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Warren connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Warren looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Warren throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Warren wants to control from the top but Morris keeps moving. Warren advances position into side control! Warren sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Morris is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ground and pound from Warren seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Warren connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Morris some visible discomfort.
Warren trying to control the action but Morris is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Warren has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Morris! Warren is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Warren extends the arm and Morris is forced to tap!
