Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fredrick McDoogle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fredrick McDoogle! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James shoots in for a double leg but McDoogle sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. McDoogle looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! James tries for a takedown but McDoogle sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. James has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael James. That's going to take a lot out of him. McDoogle throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. James falls off balance throwing a combination
and McDoogle counters with a takedown into side control. James tries to improve position but can't. James manages to work his way to half guard, despite McDoogle's best efforts. James regains full guard. Nicely done. James looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McDoogle slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. James manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! James passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for McDoogle!

James moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, McDoogle has worked his arm free - good work by McDoogle!
James wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McDoogle, who protects the arm well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James advances to mount. James goes for an armbar but McDoogle turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from McDoogle. James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James has his foot on McDoogle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McDoogle works his way back into a safe position though. James had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McDoogle is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. James Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McDoogle's back instead. McDoogle is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. McDoogle showing good submission defense here.
James is looking for the choke from the back position but McDoogle is controlling his hands well.

McDoogle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard. James looking to sweep here. No luck so far. McDoogle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
McDoogle won't allow James to sweep him here. James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McDoogle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McDoogle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. McDoogle fails with the takedown and James counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. James wants to stand and escape but instead McDoogle has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. James had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McDoogle is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, McDoogle circles away and we're back to standing. A combination from McDoogle does no damage. James has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael James. That's going to take a lot out of him. McDoogle looks to land a combination but James avoids it well. James has taken the fight to the clinch.
