Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, James Connelly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Hippo! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hippo moves to clinch but Connelly breaks away and Connelly counters with a straight right hand. Connelly gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hippo throws a knee to the head but misses.
Hippo throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Connelly blocks it with crossed arms. Hippo wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Connelly lands an elbow inside. Hippo blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Connelly gets a trip takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Connelly winds up and cracks Hippo with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Connelly in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Hippo tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Connelly!
