Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonah Takalua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Coronel Avas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coronel Avas will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonah Takalua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Coronel Avas! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Avas doesn't succeed with the takedown and Takalua counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Avas has his takedown stuffed and Takalua counters with a straight right hand. Takalua throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Avas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Takalua is in Avas's guard. Avas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Takalua working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Avas working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Takalua. Takalua has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Takalua working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Takalua stands up over Avas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takalua throwing strikes from guard but Avas blocks nicely. Takalua sitting in guard here, content to control. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Coronel Avas has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Excellent takedown into side control there by Takalua. Takalua moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Avas looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takalua misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Takalua is chipping away with strikes.
Avas parries the strikes from Takalua easily there. Takalua is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Avas to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takalua tries to score with some ground and pound. Avas controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Takalua in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Takalua fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Takalua working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Avas taking punishment in the form of punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Avas parries the strikes from Takalua easily there. Takalua is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Avas to escape.
Avas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Takalua tries for a kimura but Avas is defending well. Takalua working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jonah Takalua dominated that round. That's time! Takalua's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Takalua scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Takalua is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Avas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Avas dodges the ground and pound from Takalua. Avas is breathing heavily. Avas parries the strikes from Takalua easily there. Takalua is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Avas to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takalua scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Avas to see if he's OK. Takalua looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Avas is avoiding damage well.
Takalua has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Avas is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Takalua yanks on the arm and Avas is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Takalua.
