Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt Hanson!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson throws a right and a left that Hanson avoids nicely.
Simpson swinging wildly here.
Hanson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hanson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Simpson tries to clinch up
and Hanson counters with a straight right hand.
Simpson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hanson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Simpson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Simpson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hanson tries to clinch there but Simpson circles away.
Simpson moves out of range as Hanson throws a body kick.

Hanson gets the takedown into side control.

Simpson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Hanson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Hanson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Hanson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Simpson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Hanson stands up and beckons Simpson to his feet.

Simpson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hanson dodges the punch combination from Simpson.
Simpson wants to clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Simpson enables Hanson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Simpson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hanson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hanson stands up from Simpson's guard - Hanson perhaps looking for a knockout.

Hanson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Simpson is trying to defend but Hanson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Jay Simpson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jay Simpson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simpson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Simpson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hanson backs up against the cage.

Hanson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Simpson was covering up waiting for the punch and Hanson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hanson stands and steps away. Simpson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hanson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Simpson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Simpson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hanson.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hanson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Simpson is trying to escape the position but Hanson is controlling the position.

Hanson stands up.

Hanson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Simpson sprawls well initially but Hanson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hanson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Simpson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hanson in particular looking to stall.
Simpson is trying to control but Hanson passes into side control!
Simpson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hanson on the ground.

Hanson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hanson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Hanson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Simpson to his feet.

Hanson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Simpson napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Hanson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hanson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Simpson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Hanson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hanson is staying tight to Simpson's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Hanson stands up and beckons Simpson to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Hanson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Hanson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Simpson defends it well.

Simpson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Simpson tries to get out of the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Simpson tries to control Hanson's body but Hanson pushes him off. Simpson squirms to his side and now Hanson has his back!

What can Simpson do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hanson looking to break Simpson's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Simpson remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hanson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hanson really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Simpson.
Hanson scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Simpson is looking for a way out.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Simpson is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Matt Hanson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hanson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
