Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Serra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bernz Sinfuego! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Serra slips a jab and a cross from Sinfuego.
Serra has a takedown stuffed. Sinfuego fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sinfuego lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Serra is defended easily by Sinfuego. Serra shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Serra was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Serra looking to secure an arm triangle but Sinfuego defends it well. Sinfuego is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Serra looking to control but Sinfuego is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Sinfuego squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Serra unloads with some shots from mount but Sinfuego bucks and avoids them well.
Serra landing strikes, looking to finish!
That's one minute gone in the round. Serra with the ground and pound from mount. Sinfuego is squirming around, avoiding Serra's attempts to control the action. Sinfuego is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Sinfuego looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Serra trying to control but he's not successful this time. You get the feeling that Sinfuego really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Serra cracks Sinfuego with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Serra raining down hammerfists from mount. Sinfuego is squirming around, avoiding Serra's attempts to control the action. Sinfuego really wants to buck Serra off and get back to his feet. Serra has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Sinfuego's face.
Serra lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Serra is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sinfuego can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Serra throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Sinfuego has his hands clasped together but Serra breaks the hold and Sinfuego is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Serra!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tom Serra!
