Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armin Merkel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sigfredo Pineda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merkel comes to the cage accompanied by War Is My Destiny. Pineda comes into a darkened arena with his song building. "Suffer" by Vision of Disorder kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pineda takes one to the chin there.
It looks like Sigfredo Pineda has been cut.
Pineda connects with a looping right hand.
Merkel connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Pineda momentarily.
Pineda is looking to clinch.
Sigfredo Pineda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Merkel looks to land a left hand but Pineda moved out of range nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Merkel makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

That has opened up Sigfredo Pineda's cut even more.
Merkel lands a nice hook to Pineda's body. Pineda takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Merkel lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The cut above Sigfredo Pineda's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Pineda takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Merkel is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
That's one minute gone in the round.

Merkel drops Pineda with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Pineda looks back up at him and smiles so Merkel waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Merkel drops Pineda with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Pineda! Merkel dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (strikes). Armin Merkel!
