Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Layne Staley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emelianenko kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Enea Vollare Mezzo. Staley has chosen Alice in Chains - No Excuses as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fedor Emelianenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Layne Staley! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Emelianenko misses. Emelianenko throws a series of punches but Staley moves out of range. Emelianenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Emelianenko lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Emelianenko stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
It looks like Layne Staley has been cut. Staley lands with a cross. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Staley connects with an inside leg kick. Emelianenko uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Staley. Emelianenko misses the body punch and Emelianenko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Emelianenko works the jab nicely. Emelianenko takes one on the button. Staley lands a jab to the head.
Emelianenko misses with a right hand and Staley counters with a stiff right hand. Emelianenko has his takedown stuffed and Staley counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Emelianenko's guard now. Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Staley from controlling successfully. Staley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko looking to control.
Emelianenko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Staley defends well. Staley passes into half guard. Emelianenko misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Emelianenko has one foot on Staley's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Staley lands a leg kick that knocks Emelianenko off balance momentarily. Emelianenko scores with a sloppy right hand. Staley should have avoided that one. Emelianenko misses with a left hand and Staley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Emelianenko is breathing heavily. Emelianenko misses with a body shot.
Emelianenko drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Emelianenko misses with a takedown attempt and Staley counters with a nice body shot. Emelianenko has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Fedor Emelianenko has been cut. Emelianenko takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Staley bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Emelianenko's head backwards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Staley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Staley. Emelianenko is looking for a sweep. Staley trying to control the position but Emelianenko is working away. Emelianenko tries to improve position but can't. Staley is putting a hurting on Emelianenko here, landing some big shots from side control. Staley cracks Emelianenko with a big right hand but Emelianenko just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Staley scores with a couple of short elbows. Staley advances nicely into full mount. Emelianenko wants to control but Staley is having none of it. Staley trying to control but he's not successful this time. Emelianenko in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko is desperately trying to improve his position but Staley has a good base and remains in mount. Staley has isolated one of Emelianenko's arms. Emelianenko looking to fight him off but Staley twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
