PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Milan Lucic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brick Madson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Milan Lucic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brick Madson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucic pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Madson moves into range and clinches up with Lucic.
Madson prevents a takedown attempt there.

Madson pulls Lucic into guard.

Madson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lucic defends well.
Madson trying to strike off his back.
Madson is controlling Lucic's posture.
Madson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Lucic throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Madson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Brick Madson.

Lucic moves to clinch but Madson breaks away

and Madson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Madson gets to his feet - Lucic follows without any prompting.
Madson avoids the body shot from Lucic.
A left lands for Lucic.
Lucic tries for a takedown but Madson circles away easily
and Madson counters with a right hand to the body.
Lucic wants to clinch up but Madson keeps it at a distance.

and Madson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Madson won't allow Lucic to get back to his feet.
Madson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lucic is looking for a sweep.

Lucic looks to move to half guard but instead Madson has passed into mount! Damn!
Madson controlling the position easily from mount.
Lucic is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lucic is just holding on here. Madson manages to take his back.
Madson throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Lucic!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Lucic is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Madson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lucic has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Lucic manages to reverse the position and now he's in Madson's guard. Nice work there by Lucic.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Madson can't keep his opponent in guard - Lucic advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lucic thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Madson's head.

Lucic is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lucic is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Madson has managed to free his arm - good work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lucic could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Lucic working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Madson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Madson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Madson stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Lucic scores with a head kick. Madson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
The fight stays on the outside here - Madson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Madson tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

and Madson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lucic's guard now.

Lucic has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Madson is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brick Madson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Lucic shoots in for a takedown but Madson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Madson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lucic swivels and escapes.
Milan Lucic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brick Madson.

Milan Lucic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Madson keeps the fight on the outside.
Lucic looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Lucic looks like he's trying to stand up.
Brick Madson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Lucic is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Madson jumps into side control!
