Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Lehew! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manu Abayor! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abayor gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lehew to score an easy takedown into full guard. Lehew controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Abayor wants to stand up but Lehew is controlling him. Lehew trying to control the position from guard on top but Abayor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Abayor wants to stand up but Lehew is controlling him. Lehew is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Lehew trying to control but Abayor is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abayor is looking to stand back up but Lehew counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Abayor. Lehew works his way into full mount! Lehew controlling the position easily from mount. Lehew's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lehew trying to control but Abayor is having none of it. Lehew has hold of Abayor's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Abayor manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Lehew wants to finish this one by submission but Abayor is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lehew. Lehew controlling from the full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lehew looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Abayor trying desperately to get to his feet.
Lehew is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Abayor is surviving well by controlling Lehew's body position as best he can. Lehew trying to control but he's not successful this time. Lehew has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Abayor is forced to tap!
