Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoh Asakura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Asakura has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Chuck Mason could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Yoh Asakura's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoh Asakura! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Asakura leaves Mason with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Mason avoids the head kick by Asakura.
Asakura rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mason moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mason shoots in looking for a takedown but Asakura manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mason's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. A combination from Mason does no damage. Asakura getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Mason misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him. Asakura's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Asakura duly obliges. Asakura works over Mason's head and body with a nice combination. Nice jab there from Asakura. Asakura scores with a hook. Asakura throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mason shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Asakura as he jumps to the side. Asakura throws a series of punches but Mason avoids them all with ease. Asakura swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mason counters by moving into the clinch. Asakura stalling in the clinch but Mason improves position. Mason works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

That's one minute gone in the round. Asakura keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully. Mason has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Mason controls from within his opponent's guard. Asakura trying to keep a closed guard but Mason is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chuck Mason has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Asakura throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Asakura looks gassed! Asakura tries a head kick but it misses.
Asakura throws a sloppy head kick and Mason moves out of range easily. Asakura ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mason moves away. Mason tries a head kick but it misses.
Mason throws a series of punches but Asakura avoids them all with ease. Mason shoots for a double leg takedown but Asakura sprawls well. He's pushed Mason's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A punch combination from Asakura misses. Mason fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Asakura, pushing him back against the cage. Asakura looking for a takedown. Mason jumps into guard, dragging Asakura to the mat.
Mason has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Asakura off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Mason rushes Asakura and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Mason lands a right hand. Mason is pushing Asakura up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Asakura avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Mason has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Asakura regains guard immediately. Mason wants to pass the guard but Asakura is keeping the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Asakura is on top in guard.
Asakura wants to stand and escape but instead Mason has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Asakura, up you get! Asakura lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mason circles away quickly and effectively. Mason moves into range and connects with a jab. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Asakura misses with a jab, cross combination.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Mason tightens his grip and picks Asakura up, before dumping him to the ground. Asakura manages to land in guard. Asakura not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Asakura wants to stand up but Mason is controlling him. Asakura striking off his back but it's not causing Mason any problems. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chuck Mason dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Mason takes a swing at Asakura's ribcage but misses. Asakura clobbers Mason with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Asakura connects with a crisp jab. Asakura stuffs the takedown attempt from Mason. Mason gets slowly back to his feet. Mason has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Asakura uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Asakura stuffs the takedown attempt from Mason. Mason gets slowly back to his feet. Asakura tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Mason fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him. A left and a right from Asakura both land. Nice combination. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mason throws a sloppy head kick and Asakura moves out of range easily. Asakura scores with a head kick. Mason tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Asakura cracks Mason with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Asakura misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mason shoots in and drives through. Asakura sprawls well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Asakura's half guard. Mason slows the pace down in half guard. Asakura trying to control here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Mason. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason working the head and body with strikes. Mason is taking a breather. Asakura says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Mason has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Asakura is looking for a sweep. Mason is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mason knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Asakura on the ground. Mason is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Mason darts in and clinches Asakura up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Asakura drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Mason. Mason is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Asakura can't fight it off and eventually Mason manages to take the fight to the floor. Asakura looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Asakura can't keep his opponent in guard - Mason advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Asakura gets back to full guard.
Mason wants to control from the top but Asakura keeps moving.

Mason won't allow Asakura to get back to his feet. Mason throws a big right hand that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chuck Mason dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Asakura gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mason to score an easy takedown into full guard. Mason in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Mason wants to pass the guard but Asakura is keeping the position. Mason gets to his feet. Asakura looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Mason closes the distance and clinches. Mason manages to break the clinch.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. A head kick by Asakura misses and Mason counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Asakura can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mason controls the pace. Asakura wants to sweep but no luck. Asakura is trying to control the position but Mason postures up. Asakura preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mason wants to control from the top but Asakura keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Chuck Mason wasn't doing enough on the ground. Mason avoids the head kick by Asakura.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mason throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Some wild striking there from Asakura.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Mason. Asakura stuffs the takedown attempt from Mason. Mason gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Mason. That's going to take a lot out of him. Asakura displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mason. Mason slips a jab and a cross from Asakura.

Yoh Asakura has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chuck Mason is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mason's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that's the end of the fight! Chuck Mason showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mason, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
