Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Silver Surfer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rogerio Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Amazing entrance! with the theme FORT BATTLE from The Last of the Mohicans. Silver Surfer has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Rogerio Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Surfer.
Surfer bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Gracie's head.


It looks like Rogerio Gracie has been cut.
Gracie paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Gracie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gracie misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Surfer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gracie fails with the takedown
and Surfer cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rogerio Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Surfer misses with an uppercut.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Surfer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Surfer napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Gracie tries for a kimura but Surfer is defending well.
Surfer is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Surfer knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Gracie looking to control but instead Surfer has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Gracie trying to mount his opponent but Surfer defends it.
Surfer wants to get back to his feet.

Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gracie works his foot free and advances to mount.

Gracie is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Surfer has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Surfer!

Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gracie might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Surfer kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Silver Surfer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rogerio Gracie.

Surfer is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Surfer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Surfer is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gracie is keen to just control but Surfer is a slippery customer.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Surfer is defending it quite comfortably.

Gracie working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Surfer's thigh. Surfer counters though and makes it back to full guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Surfer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gracie.
Gracie throws a lazy right hand but Surfer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie tries to work over Surfer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Surfer scores with a nice hook to the head.
Gracie throws an elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Surfer wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
A hook to the body from Surfer.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Gracie just misses with a elbow thrown towards Surfer's brow.
Gracie takes a shot to the head.

Surfer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Surfer throws a looping overhand right but Gracie ducks down to avoid it.
Gracie fails with the takedown
enabling Surfer to counter with a crisp jab.
Surfer loads up on a big right hand but Gracie slips the punch.
Silver Surfer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie is looking to clinch.

Surfer clinches up against the cage.
Gracie blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Gracie pushes off an throws an elbow but Surfer leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Gracie wants the takedown. Surfer is fighting it off but Gracie persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Surfer's guard against the cage.
Gracie is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gracie passes Surfer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Surfer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie.

Gracie prevents Surfer from standing back up.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but Surfer defending well.
Surfer is trying to control but can't.
Gracie moves nicely into side control.
Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Surfer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gracie has hold of Surfer's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Surfer tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Gracie cranks the arm and Surfer screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Surfer, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Rogerio Gracie!
