Floyd comes to the cage accompanied by California Waiting by Kings of Leon. Schmidli has chosen Swimming with Dolphins - Fast Car as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Floyd wants to work for an arm triangle but Schmidli is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Schmidli is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Floyd pulls his head out easily.

Schmidli escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Floyd gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Schmidli is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Schmidli can't keep his opponent in guard - Floyd advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Floyd looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Floyd drops back looking for a leg! Schmidli is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schmidli manages to kick Floyd off! Floyd jumps back into Schmidli's guard.

Floyd avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Schmidli is on top in guard.

Schmidli is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Schmidli is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Floyd is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Schmidli is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Preston Schmidli dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Floyd is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Schmidli is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
