PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Wise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack LeBalls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). LeBalls comes into a darkened arena with his song building. "Cruising in Miami" by Bass 305 kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dennis Wise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack LeBalls!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LeBalls closes the distance looking to clinch
and Wise counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

LeBalls looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wise is looking to improve his position.

Wise is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but LeBalls pulls his head out easily.
Wise is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wise throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Wise makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wise.

Wise working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. LeBalls doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. LeBalls manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

LeBalls trying to control but Wise is working from the bottom.

Wise has his foot on LeBalls's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. LeBalls works his way back into a safe position though.

LeBalls tries to free his leg and advance position but Wise is retaining full guard.
LeBalls won't allow Wise to sweep him here.

Wise working for a triangle but LeBalls defends it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
LeBalls wants to control from the top but Wise keeps moving.
Wise has momentary wrist control but LeBalls slips an elbow through the middle.
LeBalls trying to control the position from guard on top but Wise is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
LeBalls throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wise throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells LeBalls's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
LeBalls trying to control the position from guard on top but Wise is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wise has momentary wrist control but LeBalls slips an elbow through the middle.

LeBalls drops back looking for a leg! Wise is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wise manages to kick LeBalls off! LeBalls jumps back into Wise's guard.

Wise is looking for a triangle but LeBalls pushes his legs off easily.

Wise had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. LeBalls defends it easily.

Wise looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Wise is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
LeBalls makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
LeBalls scoring with punches to the head and body.

Wise had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. LeBalls defends it easily.
Wise is pulling down on LeBalls's head. It's preventing any offense from LeBalls, at least for the moment.
LeBalls trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

LeBalls avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
LeBalls wants to control from the top but Wise keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
LeBalls throwing strikes from guard but Wise blocks nicely.

Wise is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. LeBalls is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dennis Wise will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



LeBalls decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wise manages to get to full guard.
Wise doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Wise is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! LeBalls has his hands clasped together but Wise extends an breaks LeBalls's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Wise.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dennis Wise!
