PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jari Hyypia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Lippencot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hyypia's entrance music is You'll never walk alone. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Lippencot throws a combination that misses
enabling Hyypia to counter with a crisp jab.
Lippencot lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hyypia circles away quickly and effectively.

Lippencot takes one to the side of the head.
Hyypia shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lippencot but Lippencot pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lippencot does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Lippencot lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Hyypia is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Hyypia shoots in looking for a takedown but Lippencot manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hyypia's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Lippencot shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hyypia eats them both and turns towards Lippencot to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Lippencot throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hyypia.
