Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Morales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges Laraque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlos Morales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Laraque!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morales gets the takedown into side control.
Laraque is looking for a sweep.

Morales decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Laraque closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Morales keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Morales desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Laraque thows a huge punch but Morales dodges it nicely.
Laraque looks to land a strike but Morales avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Laraque wants to pass the guard but Morales is keeping the position.
Laraque stands and throws Morales's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Laraque is looking to take a break and control but Morales is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Laraque thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Morales's head.
Laraque trying to mount his opponent but Morales defends it.
Laraque scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Laraque trying to control from half guard but Morales is working away.
Morales wants to get back to full guard.
Laraque trying to control the action but Morales is working from the bottom.
Laraque is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Laraque is pressing down on Morales's thigh, looking to free his foot. Morales is holding on for now.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Morales has one foot on Laraque's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Laraque has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Laraque looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Morales puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Morales has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Laraque is proving hard to escape from.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Carlos Morales just wasn't active enough.
Morales swats away the attempt to clinch by Laraque.
Carlos Morales is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Morales drops Laraque with a left and a right! Oh, Laraque is hurt - Morales dives into side control looking to finish!


It looks like Georges Laraque has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Laraque's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Morales staying calm.

The referee asks Morales politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Morales prefers to stall for the moment though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Morales decides to stand back up.
Laraque throws a body kick that misses.

and Morales counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Laraque's guard now.
Laraque is breathing heavily.
Morales is looking to work some ground and pound but Laraque has wrist control.
Carlos Morales overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Morales engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Laraque pulls Morales in close to his closed guard and prevents Morales from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Morales is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

We're going to have a standup here because Carlos Morales wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Morales throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Laraque sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Morales closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Laraque did well to prevent Morales getting side control.

Morales is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Carlos Morales wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Morales rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Laraque moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Laraque doesn't manage to clinch there - Morales circles away.
Morales tries to close the distance and clinch but Laraque swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Laraque misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Morales decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Laraque's guard.
Morales postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Morales is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Morales wants to get up but he can't break Laraque's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

so Morales counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Morales, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
