Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between jerome le banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, jerome le banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
le banner lands with a slapping head kick.
le banner throws a wild body kick that Jones sees coming a mile off.
Jones slips under a jab from le banner.
le banner misses with a hook.

Jones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Jones wants to pass the guard but le banner is defending well.
Jones controlling the action here.
le banner avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jones.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jon Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jones feints and as le banner raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jones pushes down on le banner's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Jones takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
le banner won't allow Jones to pass to mount.

le banner on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Jones working over le banner with some ground and pound. le banner looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jones perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jones lands a nice short elbow.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jon Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
le banner looks to land a right hand but Jones moved out of range.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from le banner.
A solid body kick from le banner.

Jones scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

le banner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


le banner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
le banner misses with a few strikes there.

Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in le banner's half guard.
Jones takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but le banner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jon Jones.

Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jones controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Jones has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for le banner!

A nice elbow there by Jones.

Jones is landing with some decent strikes but le banner is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Jones lands a nice shot to the head.
Jones punishing his opponent with strikes.
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


le banner throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
le banner lands with a kick to the temple. Jones shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
jerome le banner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
le banner's corner calls for a 1-2. le banner obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.


Jones is rocked!
le banner scores with a hook to the body. Jones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can le banner finish him?

le banner lands a big right hand that sends Jones crashing to the mat! le banner stays standing though and waves Jones back to his feet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.

Jones seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Jon Jones has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
le banner scores with a nice head shot.

Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in le banner's half guard.
Jones frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones controlling from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Jones controlling the position easily from mount.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to jerome le banner.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
