Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chee Pono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franciszek Mirka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mirka walks into a stiff left hand from Pono.
Mirka wants to clinch but Pono slips to the side
and Pono counters with a right hand to the body.
Mirka looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Pono cracks Mirka with a right hand to the side of the head.
Pono works Mirka's body with a nice hook.

and Pono counters with a two punch combo.
Pono lands with a shot to the body.

Pono lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Pono.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Mirka counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mirka.
Mirka has Pono pressed against the cage, preventing Pono from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Mirka jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pono walks away with a smile on his face. Mirka gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Pono closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Mirka misses with a double jab.
Pono connects with a looping right hand.
Pono sizes up Mirka with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Chee Pono seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pono accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mirka manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pono manages to get himself to full guard.

Mirka slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Pono is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Pono is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The crowd cheers as Pono lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mirka doesn't seem phased though.

Pono shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mirka sprawls well. Mirka wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pono gets slowly back to his feet.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Pono's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mirka under the eye.
Pono cracks Mirka with an open hand slap.
Mirka takes one to the chin there.
Mirka shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mirka's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Pono connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mirka scrambles back to his feet.
Pono shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mirka defends it nicely.
Pono paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Horrible takedown by Pono or perhaps it was just good defense by Mirka which made him look bad.
Pono shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mirka eats them both and turns towards Pono to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Mirka takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mirka takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Chee Pono has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franciszek Mirka.

Mirka gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Pono throws and elbow that misses. Mirka uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pono's guard. Nice move by Mirka!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pono wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chee Pono.

Pono tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mirka sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pono somewhat.

Pono shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pono, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
