Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pelle Paniikki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uolevi Gepardi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paniikki's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, N'sync - Bye Bye Bye. Pelle Paniikki is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pelle Paniikki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Uolevi Gepardi! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paniikki moves away from the strike by Gepardi. Uolevi Gepardi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No joy there for Gepardi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Paniikki keeps the fight on the outside. Gepardi scores with a jab to the head.
Gepardi throws a big shot that misses. Gepardi misses with a wild body shot. Paniikki avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gepardi throws a leg kick but Paniikki moved away. Gepardi closes the distance and clinches. Paniikki fails to pull guard.

Gepardi lands a right hand that snaps the head of Paniikki backwards. Paniikki tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Gepardi lands with a short shot to the head. Paniikki jumps guard but Gepardi stands there with Paniikki around his waist. Paniikki gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gepardi walks away with a smile on his face. Paniikki gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Paniikki throws a right and a left that both miss.

Paniikki doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gepardi counters by moving into the clinch. Gepardi gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Paniikki pulls Gepardi into guard.

Paniikki had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gepardi defends it easily. Paniikki isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gepardi stacks Paniikki on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gepardi! Gepardi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paniikki tries to get back to half guard but can't. The referee asks Gepardi politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gepardi prefers to stall for the moment though. Paniikki manages to get back to half guard. Paniikki actively working from the bottom here. Paniikki works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Paniikki looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gepardi stands and steps away. Paniikki gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Gepardi wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Gepardi throws the kick towards the body but Paniikki avoids it. Gepardi lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Paniikki has his takedown stuffed and Gepardi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Pelle Paniikki has been cut. Paniikki is breathing heavily. Paniikki slips under a jab. Gepardi throws a right hand that Paniikki ducks under and follows up with a left that Paniikki also avoids with ease. Uolevi Gepardi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gepardi is looking to take this fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Uolevi Gepardi dominated that round. The cut man is working on Pelle Paniikki's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gepardi lunges at Paniikki with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Paniikki's hand. Gepardi throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Paniikki on the side of the head. Paniikki with a poor takedown and Gepardi counters with a lovely straight right hand!

That's one minute gone in the round. A big left from Gepardi misses. Oh Paniikki is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Paniikki slips under a jab from Gepardi. Gepardi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Paniikki to score an easy takedown into full guard. Paniikki seems to have got his legs back now. Paniikki is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gepardi is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gepardi has escaped and now he's on top! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gepardi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Paniikki's guard. Gepardi wants to control but Paniikki is keeping him busy.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Gepardi is looking to advance position but Paniikki won't allow it. Paniikki gets back to full guard.
Paniikki has his foot on Gepardi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gepardi works his way back into a safe position though. Paniikki is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Paniikki can't keep hold of the triangle and Gepardi manages to pass to side control! Gepardi is looking to take a break and control but Paniikki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Paniikki is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gepardi lands a decent elbow from side control. Paniikki is trying to get back to half guard. Gepardi scores with punches from side control. Paniikki tries to bench press Gepardi off him but Gepardi keeps the position. Gepardi taking a breather here. Paniikki is looking to regain half guard here but Gepardi keeps moving and retains side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Uolevi Gepardi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Pelle Paniikki's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
A decent looking cross lands there for Gepardi. Paniikki takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gepardi throws out a loose jab but Paniikki uses good head movement to avoid it. A big left from Gepardi misses. Paniikki uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gepardi. Gepardi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Paniikki swats him away and circles back towards the center. Gepardi rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Paniikki counters with a single leg into guard. Gepardi didn't expect that. Paniikki wants to pass the guard but Gepardi is keeping the position. Paniikki has gone for a leg lock! Gepardi slips out almost immediately though and dives into Paniikki's guard. Gepardi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paniikki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Paniikki is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gepardi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gepardi's back! Gepardi looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gepardi is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Paniikki is staying active. Paniikki looking to break Gepardi's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Gepardi remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Paniikki will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Paniikki has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Gepardi is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Paniikki gets his way!
Paniikki doesn't have the hooks in and Gepardi manages to turn into his guard.

You can see the frustration on Paniikki's face as Gepardi controls the position. Gepardi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Paniikki to his feet. Gepardi lands a nice shot to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Paniikki looking to pass the guard. Paniikki drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gepardi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Paniikki has Gepardi in his guard. Gepardi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Paniikki can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gepardi controls the pace. Gepardi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Paniikki's head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gepardi wants to control from the top but Paniikki keeps moving. Pelle Paniikki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Uolevi Gepardi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paniikki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gepardi is aware though and is defending well.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pelle Paniikki. I think Gepardi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
