Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kaleb Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duece Delta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phillips comes into the arena with Enter Sandman blaring out of the sound system. Delta has chosen the tough guy song as his entrance music. Duece Delta told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaleb Phillips! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duece Delta! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Delta is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Phillips's half guard. Phillips is trying to control but can't.
Phillips keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Delta is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Phillips is controlling Delta's trapped leg to prevent Delta from advancing to side control. Delta seems to be working for a kimura but Phillips defends the submission attempt. Phillips wants to control but Delta is keeping busy.
Phillips is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Delta moves nicely into side control. Delta tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Delta has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Phillips wants to control but Delta postures up. Delta goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Phillips has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Delta but great work by Phillips. Delta is looking to reverse the position. Phillips controls the position. Delta is looking to regain half guard here but Phillips keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Delta is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Phillips moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Delta tries to buck Phillips off but Phillips is having none of it. Delta is trying to control Phillips's posture but Phillips avoids it. Delta manages to get back to half guard. Phillips blocks the strikes from Delta.
Phillips will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Delta is trying to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Delta actively working from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Phillips tries to pass to full mount but Delta defends it. Phillips performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Delta pushes Phillips off looking to stand but Phillips dives back in and keeps control.
Delta looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Phillips prevents Delta from improving his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Phillips is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Phillips is trying to control the action in half guard but Delta is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Delta tries to get to full guard but Phillips has control of the leg. Phillips is keen to just control but Delta is a slippery customer.
Kaleb Phillips has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Phillips throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Phillips uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Phillips is looking to clinch. Phillips with a jab. Phillips scores with a jab to the jaw. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kaleb Phillips dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Delta has his takedown stuffed and Phillips counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Delta on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Phillips throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Delta's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Phillips dives in looking to finish as Delta flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Phillips's strikes! Phillips is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Delta's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Delta was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
